I’m entertaining the idea to find one with fairing/mirror damage to get a bargain.

Make sure you give it an inspection, it’s hard to fix frame damage. Also, I’ve been toying with the same idea, but it seems like for the prices they actually sell for, along with the considerable Copart fees, it would be easier and a financial wash to just buy a clean titled one off the local craigslist.

Never ended up buying one but looked at a bunch. They were usually pretty trashed...what looked like fairing damage in pics was usually a cracked frame or something pretty terrible. They don’t take particularly good care of them once they are in the yard as well. A lot were sitting on their sides, fork lifted around, etc.
Bottom line: if you are serious about buying one, make sure you check in out closely in person.

My thought as well. A lot of the bikes are purely trashed but its a gamble with the ones that appear to only have fairing damage.
